• admin on Quad Monitors and LinuxI think you missed what I was speaking about. This is not a 3D monitor setup. The setup is simply for the hardware 3D acceleration abilities of the graphics cards with four standard LCD monitors. I don't even want to look at the nightmare that setting up a 3D monitor under linux would be at this time. From what I've sceen for 3D monitors and of course the required glasses that are needed to go with them they are cool for watching movies, some games look fantastic (though they are few in number that support it) and for any normal desktop use it's pretty well useless at this time. This may change in the future. If a pioneering Coder were to undertake the project I would imagine that it would be developed for windows first, however once started I'm sure it would be re-done under linux very quickly. It would be a multi-fold project though requiring the hardware support being integrated into the drivers, and then desktop environments that can take advantage of that hardware ability. Until you have the desktop environment in place though the hardware ability won't mean a whole log. This is why it's starting off in games and movies first. I would also imagine that a new piece of hardware would be introduced into the mix for home computers that just doesn't exist currently, and that would be the VR gloves that would allow you to really interact with the environment.
